Mountain Ravine, 2010
oil on canvas, 36" x 26"
I was hiking around in the Berkshires one grey and overcast day when I came across this ravine. The light wasn't exactly spectacular but it did heighten the green and oranges of these woods. It was a bit foggy and wet which made the leaves and tree trunks dark and the walking that much more difficult, especially when it got steep. The ravine was a deep cut in the side of the hill and when you got down in it to the water it seemed like all of the world faded away and left you with damp rocks to sit on and the sound of the water continuously headed down to the rushing creek below.
