Creekbottom

Creekbottom, 2008

I love wandering through creekbottoms. Those low places where creeks wind through woods and fields. I used to love streamwalking, taking a hike with a stream as the trail. In the kind of deep woods in the Kalamazoo Nature Center I got caught up in looking up as well as down. The sun tumbled down the open spaces in the canopy, sometimes where a tree had fallen and left a gap or else where the stream widened enough to leave an open space. This place gave me the impression of a waterfall of light coming down from the leaves.
