Cedars with Shadows, 2011
oil on canvas, 18" x 18 1/2"
It has been years since I have painted the Cedars in my neck of the woods. They can seem so animated sometimes, like herds or families in their small groupings. They seem to be watchful members at the edges of the pastures and the simple shapes and telling shadows can create a feeling of security. I have been walking through these fields for years, and I am discovering that I have a lot more to paint from the Cedars around me.
