Woods

Woods, 2011

oil pastel, 13" x 16"

Light in the woods is always fascinating to me. It filters through leaves and branches and changes by color and intesity as it eventually falls upon other objects on its way to the forest floor. I have always been drawn to the errant spotlight here and there putting some small place on stage as you walk past. Walking in the woods is a daily routine for me and a prayer of sorts to connect to the world and see things for what they are. In creating Art I sometimes find that a subject of pure light and whatever that light falls on is enough to motivate me to work.
