Cosby Creek

Cosby Creek, 2007

oil pastel, 13" x 16"

I worked on this piece down along this creek in Cosby, Tennessee. There were so many great spots to draw where these two creeks came together that I took dozens of photos from all kinds of angles. I think there may be a few paintings started in my studio from this area soon. This was one view I liked with a distinct advantage, it had a place to set up an easel and stool so I could concentrate and work as long as I needed to. It was bright down there in the middle of the afternoon, which is a time I usually feel less creative, but the rocks and water and shadows were stark and exciting.
