Clematis

Clematis, 2008

oil pastel, 13" x 11 1/2"

It's funny how you can see something over and over and never think twice about it until it changes. I saw this vine growing up the side of the house along with lots of other things near it and then one day I saw it was blooming. It was an incredible sight with the green of the house behind it. I did a quick sketch, taking note of what time of day I wanted to capture it and the next morning I got my easel and oil pastels out and working this out. The flowers didn't last all that long and I had to ask my sister what they were.
