Archway

Archway, 2005

oil pastel, 18" x 23"

private collection

This wonderful old Pecan tree is in South Georgia and was a spot I came to again and again this past Thanksgiving. The Spanish Moss swaying in the breeze and the spotty shadows dancing underneath on the road to the fields beyond are endlessly fascinating to me. I have drawn and painted this same spot many times over the years, in all seasons and times of day. Sometimes the complexity and chaos of the scene overwhelms me but I just keep trying all the same.
